We are proud to announce that as of March 2007, we will follow the United States Figure Skating Basic Skills Program, the official recognized curriculum for figure skating.  The curriculum is well-designed, and the objectives are a perfact match with our own goals:

  1. To make your skating safe and pleasurable.
  2. To improve your skills through progressive levels which will bring confidence and satisfaction at each step.
  3. To build a solid foundation which will serve you well if you later decide to pursue figure skating (or ice hockey) more seriously.

We will encourage skaters to move through the program at a rate that allows them to truly master each skill.  Skaters will need to practice outside of their lesson at least once a week.  Good class attendance and practice habits will help skaters as they attempt to pass their evaluation at the end of the term.

The following is our upcoming semester of group classes now open for enrollment.

cURRICULUM gUIDE FOR SKATING SCHOOL CLASSES

With your child's enrollment in our skating school, they will receive a Student Progress Record Book.  Each skater is responsible for bringing this book to class each week.

The Student Progress Record Book contains the curriculum guide for each class level.  When the skater has mastered a particular maneuver in his/her class, the coach will place a star sticker next to that move.  Once all maneuvers in a level are mastered, the coach will sign the Student Progress Record Book.  This will indicate that the skater is ready to move to the next class level.  A Certificate will be awarded to the skater upon the completion of each class level.

It is our hope that this Student Progress Record Book will provide immediate feedback regarding each skater's progress in our Polar Ice Galleria Skating School.
